Got my surgery date today, for next month.

When I met the GYN surgeon, I liked him right off, he's had a lot of experience, told me what to expect, etc. Heard from people that he has a good rep around here and a long track record of very successful results. Nice to know that... very important to have confidence in the person who is going to be a major surgery like this.
The hospital also has a good rep, and I've been an inpatient there before, and was pretty pleased with the place. So, that is a plus side.
The down side is, I've got such a problem with anemia, just got over myperiod, and am so weak... even with all the supplements, its tough on me. I'll have one more period to go through and hopefully a week or two to recover from THAT before I go in.

I'm okay right now, but I just know that I'm going to hit a major wall just before this.... I believe when the time comes, I will be posting here and probably panicking... well, life is full of panicky moments, I suppose.

Glad this site is here. Appreciate it very much. It helps calm the overactive worrying machine in my head.

Hi Donata,

I'm so glad that you met with the Gyn surgeon and liked him. You are right - having confidence in your doctor is very important. I hope that the meds you are taking will help with your anemia. Did the doctor mention blood transfusions if your blood levels aren't high enough before surgery? You might want to call his office and ask that question.

I'm glad that you found Hyster Sisters, and wish you the very best.

Hello, KDeit!

Thanks for replying.
I'm just taking mega-iron and other mineral supplements for now, though I didn't like the cheap drugstore generic stuff they prescribed, (too hard on my stomach, even with a little food like they suggested) I went to a health food store and got liquid iron with herbal/vitamin support , which I think agrees with me very well. It barely keeps my blood levels from going under, though. EVery month, it just wipes me right out.

I had three transfusions last Dec. when I went in for influenza and high fever, and they discovered the severe anemia, so it is likely I will get a transfusion.

My pre-op appointment is a week before surgery, and I have another appointment coming up for lab work, they will call me soon for that date. They also have to make sure I have no pneumonia, because I had that last Dec. as well.

Yes, I was a terrible mess, which started the whole process that got me to this stage. I have to be pretty bad off to go to a doc, now I'm glad I'm following up on everything... I have to trust them at some point...
