Lifting post op...

I work as an emt and in order for me to be allowed back on a squad i need to be able to lift at least 200lbs. I know i'm off work at least 6 weeks but i was wondering if anyone has any idea how long it will take before i can lift that much?

No way will you be able to lift at least 6-8wks. Let the dr know what you do. Alot of healing will be going on inside. Good Luck to you!

Hi Kris, I was put on a 5lb, then after the first week a 10 lb, limit for a few more weeks after my hyst. I'm the caregiver for my handicapped DD who weighs about 95 pounds. My dr told me to absolutely not try to lift her for the first 6 months!

I'm sure that you're used to lifting much heavier weights than I ( I don't think I can lift any where near 200 lbs ). You should definately get clearance from your dr before you try to do that after your surgery. I'd advise discussing this with your dr as soon as possible so that you can then talk to your employer.

Best wishes.
