cervical cancer and pathology report

Just wanted to elaborate a bit more for you.

CIS is carcinoma in-situ, also known as stage zero or non-invasive cancer.

Cancer is when there is a change in the cell that continues to replicate. Most of the time the body takes care of it, but obviously, not always.

Cervical cancers are typically slow growing so 4 weeks should not be a problem.

Most doctors will do some sort of a cone biopsy. I personally had a cold knife cone biopsy which is a day surgery. It takes a deeper, cleaner sample. Whatever kind you have is for diagnostic perposes as much as anything. From the biopsy they can get a better idea of the extent of the problem. If you margins had been clear, you may not have ever had a recurrance.

Sounds like they caught things early. This is good. Now you can start to get ready for a hyst by reading the different posts here. There is also a list of abbreviations on the site (sorry, I cannot direct you, but I am sure someone will if you cannot find them!)
