Severe pain AFTER sex..

I am about 15 months out from hysterectomy surgery and still have pain issues. My troubles lately seem to occur after sex. Everything feels normal during, but I have severe pain after the act, for about 10-15 minutes and then the problem subsides, this has happened 3 times now. And oddly enough, the pain seems rectal as opposed to vaginal. I also feel "swollen" internally for the next day. I have seen 5 gyn's since this surgery and they all say that with the exception of a very small (less than plus 1) rectocele, everything looks normal. I have felt the swelling sensation since the surgery--it used to occur just on a daily basis with me getting up for the day and I felt a falling out sensation up inside almost immediately. That (thank goodness) has subsided except on days after sex, but the pain after intercourse is new and it's powerful. I suppose I need to have it looked at, but I am so frustrated with doctors that say I can't possibly feel what I am feeling, and the operation that I had doesn't cause the pain I am describing. I know what I feel.
I guess I'm looking for any insight or similar problems. For awhile, I was also feeling that when I would have my "period" (I kept 1 ovary and still cycle) I would have very strong pains rectally as well that would come and go for 1 day, and then it was over. I had the operation for endo. Could endo cause pain after sex? I'm so tired of the cycle of going to the doctor and getting nowhere.

Severe pain AFTER sex..

Hi ((((klbsister))))) I'm so sorry you're dealing with all these issues

I also know the frustration of going to doctors and being told that they can't explain why I'm feeling the way I'm feeling I've been dealing with join pains since the summer of 2002 and have yet to have an explanation for those pains, because all the tests come back negative. However, I know that it's not in my head and that there must be a reason... so, that's why I keep going to the doctors and I keep having the tests.... it's frustrating, it's exhausting, but I don't know any other way to ensure that, eventually, I get an answer

I had my hyst, over 3 years ago now, due to a large fibroid and to a 3rd stage rectocele. While my rectocele didn't cause the pains you're mentionning, I'm thinking that it could very well be the source of your pain after sex: the rectocele the rectum bulging into the vagina. Could be that penetration exacerbates the prolapse and the pain is caused by the organs trying to settle back in place. Of course, I'm not a doctor and that's why you need to have a doctor address this issue.

Sorry I can't be of much help. Sending lots of s your way. Please keep us posted.

I am so sorry you are dealing with this.

Yes, in my experience, pain after intercourse happens, but it is related more to duration/intensity of Os. You did not mention that connection and it might not be a factor for you, but I find that those spasms kick off some pain for the next day or two.

I have cyclical pain with intercourse as well which is positional. Not all positions hurt.

Luckily, I am pretty able to predict what is going on with me in that department and DH and I work around it.

I hope you find a resolution to this issue soon.
