probably silly question

I am 17 days post op, up and around. Very swelly belly, get tired easy, little interest in doing much. I feel ok but don;t think as well as week ago. Normal. Maybe it is just from becoming more active.

probably silly question

Hi LinLinLin -

17 days post-op is still pretty early. I'm almost 8 months now, but I can remember where you're at like it was yesterday. You start feeling better and the pain isn't as bad, so it's easy to think "OK - I should be able to do this and this and be fine!" when actually your body is still doing a lot of healing! You will get tired easily and the swelly-belly will always get worse if you over-do. I also had trouble thinking clearly (I don't know if that's left over affects from the anesthesia or what), and I couldn't seem to concentrate on any one thing for very long. Just be patient and this stage will be over before you know it. You'll be like me thinking "I can't believe I had surgery almost 8 months ago!"

Take Care

Linda

thanks Linda. Now that you mention I can;t seem to get into anything. I sew alot but all I can do is look at my sewing books. I can sit no problem but the interest isn;t there. Anything to complicated just turns me right off, more likes overwhelmes me. I am also going through seperation so alot of stress. Appreciate your imput. Lynn

probably silly question

Hi. Think I felt a little better a few days after surgery than a week or two after...think it's normal. My fatigue was rather constant for awhile, but it eases up with time. The hardest part is not to overdo it (pushing, pulling, lifting). I resigned myself to it all and figured this will probably be the only time I can relax and just veg!

I did do some walking (as upright as you can take it, not hunched over holding your belly) and that helped immensely. If I drove, or went for a ride, I grabbed a travel pillow, put it on my tummy, seat-belted it in and off I went. (Probably looked like a 'dork' but it was comfortable to me!)

But sounds like you're doing pretty well..go with it and just let your body heal...it takes a long time...good luck to you!

TAH/BSO (3 months out) and feeling better every day!
