A memorial thread for TammyDW

It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that I announce the passing of TammyDW. She died on March 17, 2004, survived by husband, son (age 17) and daughter (age 5) along with many other family and friends. A beautiful obituary was written in the San Antonio newspaper which includes a picture. You can find it here:

TammyDW

I do not have the appropriate words to express my feelings. I knew Tammy to be a brave and loving woman. She had an amazing ability to be supportive to others, even when she had so much need of support for herself. She fought an incredible fight, and I am proud to have made her acquaintance during this life.

(((Tammy))) You will be missed terribly. Thank you for being a part of my life, and a part of the lives of so many women here. Your support and kindness as well as your examples on how to live life have been truly inspirational. May you find everlasting peace and happiness in the arms of our loving Father to whom you are entrusted .

(((Ladies)))

I invite you to add your own thoughts and feelings, or just your quiet presence as we remember our dearly departed sister (((Tammy))).

(((Rhonda S.))) Thanks for providing me with this information.

Jeanine, Thanks for bringing this to our attention. How very sad that she has now passed on. She has such a young family that she's left behind. Her family will be in my thoughts and my prayers during this very difficult time for them.

Dear Tammy DW.

I started posting here at Cancer Concerns a year ago when I was diagnosed with a large ovarian tumour that I was warned had a 30% chance of being cancerous. I was terrified, and received much caring support from many ladies here, until thankfully my pathology came back clear.

Tammy was one of those ladies who helped me. She already had cancer diagnosed and had been fighting it for more than a year. She never made me feel that my problems were trivial, though compared with hers they were, but she was always most supportive and caring. I loved reading her posts. I thought actually that she was a very good writer. I was so pleased when she decided to make a scrap book and include messages and pictures from some of the ladies here. I hope some of her own messages to Hyster Sisters are included also, as her writing was so good.

If anyone had a right to be miserable it was Tammy, yet she never was. She was sad and scared at times, yes, but mostly cheerful, light-hearted, gracious. She had a wonderful ability to live in the present and enjoy each passing day. I feel privileged to have had her example before me of how to live with serenity during a serious and ultimately terminal illness: when it is my turn I want to be just like her. Her husband and children have every right to be very proud of her.

Jane.

Thats the worst news. So very sad. I feel postively sick.

Maybe the Cancer Concerns Board could be closed for 24 hours in her memory?? Or the whole of Hystersisters.com?

I too, can barely find the words or hold back these tears. I will really miss Tammy's love and insight here on CC. Although she lived not nearly long enough, she had a great impact on us here and I am sure, among all those people and family that she touched in her lifetime. May God bless her family and friends at this time.

I am in shock, this is truly awful news. She was such a source of support and so generous with her time here at HS. I will miss her very much. My thoughts and prayers go out to her family and friends.

I started to cry when I read this message and still have tears in my eyes as I write this. Tammy- I will miss you. You fought so hard for such a long time. You were inspirational to us all. Thank you for what you gave to us all. I hope you have found peace. My condolences to your family-to your children. You will be in our hearts forever.

What tragic news. I remember reading some of her posts & feel that I knew her, although I'm a fairly new member.

Condolences to all who loved her.
