Confused and Not Sure I Got Right Answers...

(((Connie))) While colonoscopy is sometimes used in the diagnosis of IBS, in that it's used to rule out other conditions and diagnose IBS by exclusion, a colonoscopy is really much better suited to routine screenings for colorectal cancer and in the diagnosis of conditions like diverticulosis (for me it was very helpful there).

Here is a link to a discussion about diagnosing IBS and the use of testing methods:

Diagnosing IBS: What's too much, What's Enough?

You have to be registered with Medscape to read the article, but registration is free and it gives you access to their whole library of great information. I highly recommend it!

And here is another great source of information on the diagnosis of IBS:

Diagnosing Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)

I hope this helps!
s,
-Linda

thanks linda...am going to check out sites now before IVP...im just concerned that the doctors think this is IBS,am just wondering what they are looking for with these test..It only happens when im up for about 2 hours, everything backs up,bladder and bowel...You always come through for me linda...cant wait till this is all over with, other than this problem im doing great..hormones are perfect, figured out when to change my patch and no hyster pain except when i get all this swelling,it swells to the point of cant breath..if i eat its food backing up if i dont its gas backing up..i just cant believe all these tests, with the cat scan they found a cyst where my gallbaddler use to be 6cm and that has to come out...see surgeoun about that today, am going to see if he can do exploratory lap while hes in there, wont hurt...all my tests come out negative because im laying down...we will see,am going to sites now...
