1 week post-op...need advise & info

I am one week post-op TAH/BSO with lymph node staging. On one hand, the immediate post-op pain was not nearly as bad as I expected. But on the other, it doesn't seem to be getting a lot better. I am fairly comfortable when I am stationary, but when I get up out of bed or out of a chair, I am fairly uncomfortable. Walking is ok...not uncomfortable. Also, fortunately, I am not constipated, but it is very uncomfortable when I have a BM. I guess I just thought I would feel a lot better after a week. Am I expecting too much? Is this normal? If so, when can I expect to see some improvement.

Everybody obviously reacts differently to major surgery but I honestly didnt start really feeling somewhat like myself until I was about 4 weeks postop. Every week after that I have felt noticeably better.

hi cksmiley50,

I had a TAH/BSO 12 days ago......what you have described sounds pretty normal to me......getting up from a chair or out of bed the 1st week is a bit laboring, but it gets better day by day.....i am doing fine with it now, with very little pain......

hang in there and take care

I think that you are expecting too much, your body has had a hugh shock and it takes time to recover.

If you take it easy and rest as much as you can you will soon start to feel better. Listen to your body, it will let you know if you have done too much.

I am now 11 weeks post op and I started to feel a lot better by week 5, I found weeks 2&3 quite tough.

It does get better honest!!

Take care
