my appointment today

here is my update from my doctors appointment. ok i had squamous carcinoma invasive (1a1 cervical cancer) and adenocarcinoma in situ the LEEP got all of the squamous cell cancer!!! the ando is unsure, the LEEP burns the edges of the tissue, so they could not determine if they got all of it. well i have pre-op wednesday, (yes 2 days) and a Laproscopic assisted partial hysterectomy monday. they are just taking the cervix and uterus unless when looking they see a swollen lymph node or my ovaries look "bad" so there is what is going on with me, looks like i will not be down too long! i told my husband he has until wed. before my pre-op appointment to "be sure" he wants no more children (we are 25 and 27) and this is very permanent, i hate the thought of surgery, but want to be able to live to 80 and say i actually survived cancer, it did not win! anyone who has had a hysterectomy, do you have any recommendations of things totake with me to the hospital? i do not want to overpack! i have slippers, housecoat, books on tape, shampoo and other essentials for hygene, anything else?????

Hi Dag,

sorry to hear that you need surgery but it will over before you know it.

I personally packed way too much for the hospital and I actually used NONE of it except for my comb and brush and slippers.

I had the surgery late on a Thursday and went home early Sunday morning.

The hospital gave me everything else I needed.

my appointment today

Hi Dag.

Seems you are very prepared! My hospital stay was short--Tues Am through Fri Am. I took a light robe and slippers, something to read, a comb and hair spray, toothbrush & toothpaste, etc.

You're right, you want to boot any cancer that may be there out on its butt now, and not take a chance of having it revisit you later on. I'm sorry that this is hitting you at such a young age--but hopefully you are ensuring that you'll live to an OLD age!

Keep us informed how things are going.

Blessings.
Marlene

How fortunate for you that they've got this early. All the better chance to live to 80! And that's a nice goal to have. Just FYI, my husband and I just adopted a little girl. We got her in early January. She's 14 months old now and is just the most precious angel. What a gift from God!

I didn't need all that much during my stay in the hospital. My nieces and nephews drew lots of "get well" pictures for me that we taped all over the room. I did, however, send my brother-in-law out for some shampoo. My hair was getting pretty "ripe" and once I took that shower and washed my hair, well, I felt like a million bucks!

Good luck to you, sweetie. Let us know how you're doing.
