Fear of taking HRT

Everyone ust make their own choice, but we do rely onour D's for advice. I was not given the choice of HRT, since I was diagnosed with uterine cancer, and one sister has breast cancer. my sx life is the same as it was before the surgery and the hot flashes are being controlled with Effexcor, which ironically my sister, in another part of the counrty is also taking.
Listen to your DR's and take time to absorb the information and make the decison that is right for you.

Fear of taking HRT

My gyn. told me not to take HRT, not even black cohosh or soy products. I've printed off Trish' info on "ways to compensate for no HRT boiled down," and right now I'm taking effexor, evening primrose & fish oil, multivitamins & calcium, and I'm taking long daily walks. I'm sure having trouble with prolapse, and also with depression that is pretty severe at times, and I know all this is made worse by low estrogen, so I keep on learning from these boards and weighing the pros & cons of different options. Surgical menopause is not fun!! At first all I could think of was--yippee, the cancer is gone. Afterwards it dawned on me that this was a long journey of adjusting to a different (but still good) life. I agree with what the others have said--consider all the information and then make the decision that is right for you. It IS tough to know what to do sometimes!

Trish, thanks for all that info. again!

Fear of taking HRT

Dear Bonnie,
  Quote:
My Dr. always seems to be on top of everything and I have to believe she wouldn't suggest something to me that she thought would cause me more problems.
Just keep her informed if you have any more worries or any problems. They are still learning about HRT, and, being a gyn/oncologist, your doc has access to all the very latest research. Working together, the two of you will find the best thing that works for your body -- it sounds like you may have already found the answer!

Best health to you!
