Hi sisters

Well, I called the dr today and of course got his nurse. She was quick to call in my refill and to tell me that the dr would be handling my pain mgmt till I get into the pain clinic. I hope that is soon. I really don't want to wait forever. I am excited about getting started. I have tried to do some research online about what to expect but haven't found a whole lot can any of you shed any light on what to I have to look forward to when I start. Are they going to lecture me about the meds. Are they going to take them all away or are they going to really help me learn to handle this and get my life back.
I am ready to take the next step in my healing process and realize that this is something I am going to have to learn to live with and I want to do just that. Can my DH go with so that maybe he will have a little better understanding of what my life is like and how much the pain affects me. He really has been riding me hard lately, I know he doesn't understand but it really hurts my feelings. His comments like this house used to be so clean what happened to the women who used to come in and clean it;; I want to tell him to go hire someone. yeah right.
Somedays it is all I can do to get a shower and get dressed. Let alone make dinner and do the laundry. OK enough gripping.
Thanks for listening
Any info would be greatly appreciated

Hi sisters

Hello, Jeni:

Are you keeping a journal of your pain and medications and their effects? If not, you need to, in my opinion. This could serve 2 purposes. It could give your DH and your pain management doc some insight into your daily life and your challenges ... as you see them. How you feel about the situation is critical.

So here's my Make sure you note on an at least daily basis what your pain levels are, where the pain is, what makes it better/worse and how you feel about it emotionally. Write down your concerns and your hopes about pain management and express those to your pain management doc. Maybe think of your top 3 concerns and try to write down a goal (mission statement, if you will). I should think your PM would really appreciate all the help you can give him/her in this regard. Effective communication should help to speed the process of finding the right meds/procedures to lessen your pain.

Best wishes to you sweetheart. I want nothing more for you than for your pain to be effectively managed so that you can live your life fully.

Take care .... s
