setstion of cyst

If it helps, I was also diagnosed last year with a very large, complex cyst on my left ovary at age 50. I was told that there was a 25% to 30% chance of it being cancerous. I had a left salpingo-oopherectomy via laparotomy (vertical incision) with omental and lymph node biopsies. The pathology came back "no cancer". I had a gyn/onc do the surgery. I deeply sympathise with you as I know how very scary it is: I also had a seven week wait from diagnosis to surgery. For the first and last time in my life I used medication to help me sleep. Prayer also helped. You will get through this and it will probably NOT be cancer.

Jane.

Thanks Jane for the words of hope...I figure I have had this thing for at least a year. I started having digestive problems in December and it was diagnosed in January -- now operation in June. Does anyone know how quickly cancer can progress. If I have had this thing inside me for over a year and it's cancer does that mean I could be at stage III or stage IV?

setstion of cyst

i have a complex cyst on my right ovary and will undergo a TAH/BSO on June 1st. I am 49, postmenopausal.

I take heart in that my doc says he thinks it will be benign since he could tell there was no fluid in my abdomen and my CA125 came back good.

Funny thing is when I had my ultrasound (the second one) the tech said "how long have you had this cyst"? Thats a stupid thing to ask....how in the world would I know that answer? I only know that I found out about it on my first ultrasound 2 months ago.

I have no symtoms except some bowel problems, but I have IBS - so my constipation and diarrea could could be IBS too. I have also had my gall bladder out 8 years ago and havent been the same in the bowel department since.

Take hope in that you are 38 years old, very young, and with a fluid cyst. That's better than a solid cyst - so odds are with you that its just a fluid cyst.
