2nd Surgery Scheduled
Hello: I am new here and checked out the very helpful messages prior to my vaginal hysterectomy on Feb 25. Everything went great and I was feeling fine. Two weeks after surger, I saw my doctor and she informed the that the pathology report came back that I had endometrial cancer grade 1!! She has sent me to a Onco/gyn who will do another surgery to take tubes and ovaries as well as lymph nodes!! This will happen on June 7. I need to work until then to keep my insurance in effect. I am very upset that I will have not one but two surgeries!!! Also, I am very afraid at the cancer diagnosis. Prior to the first surgery, I had a pap and two biopsies. Both Biopsies show hyperplasia with no signs of cancer. Have others been down this two surgeries road?

Hiya
Yes i had to have two surgeries within a week of one another. Its not that bad but the most important thing is it sounds as if you are getting good treatment, although I have to admit i wouldnt like such a long wait between the two surgeries. Is there any reason for not having second operation done until June?
Good luck to you
Sheila

2nd Surgery Scheduled
Hi!
I had a LAVH mid December and had everything removed for hyperplasia except for the lymph nodes;I turned out to have 1B cancer...am a bit concerned I still have the lymph nodes, but 1B is a very low chance of any metastases, so I have to take comfort in that. I have a CT of the abdomen and pelvis scheduled next week and my recent pap was OK as was the chest x-ray. Wish you the best of luck with you 2nd surgery....

Hi and welcome, Mallenadams. The most important thing that you can do for yourself is what you're already doing... that is, working with a gyn onc surgeon. You'll be in very good hands.
I know it's all very frightening. I, too, had an endometrial biopsy before surgery that came back negative for cancer but with a complex hyperplasia which I understand is a pre-cancerous condition. Well, guess what? When they opened me up they found that I did, in fact, have cancer in the uterus. I had a few surprises that day. Well, I'm almost a year down the road and I'm doing terrific!
You will be, too. Keep posting and let us know how you're doing. June 7 will be here before you know it. Until then, treat yourself as best as you can, recover completely from the first surgery. Good luck to you.
