Back from EMB (endometrial biopsy)

Hey all!!!

I just got back from the biopsy. They used a speculum, tenaculum, then this suction thing. No shots at all. I took 2 Tylenol this morning before the appointment. It was mildly painful, but thankfully brief. I kept still, didn't move or say anything. They told me I did a great job. Like I was doing anything but holding my breath! LOL! I cramped for probably 30 minutes afterward, and I'm bleeding some.

Get this... Doc said my results should be in by Friday!!!!

Anyhow, Doc brought up switching me to Prometrium. Yay! I was going to ask him if I could, anyway. He said finish my current bottle of Megace (1 weeks worth), then start Prometrium. I'll be on it until I see him again in June. On June 7th, I go in to set up my D&C appointment for end of June or early July.

He seemed very positive .

All in all, I'm pretty excited to hopefully have kicked this hyperplasia's butt!

I feel excited for you reading your post. That is good news. I hope that the hormonal treatment payes off for you. I'll keep you in my prayers. Hopefully, the different meds will be easier on you. It is just good to read that somebody is doing better.

Sounds like good news

Hi Pam,
Sounds like the doc thinks things are going well! Super! It is always good to hear positive news! Gives the rest of us hope!

Were you having any bad side effects of the Megace? Let me know, I may be looking at some of that myself. I may have asked that before, but please forgive me. I'm just trying to find the right answers for myself.

Be sure to take it easy and not lift or do too much the next couple of days. I have had biopsy before too and it is easy to over do it too soon and be more sore than necessary.

My first biopsy, (some years ago) I came home and worked in the yard...laying mulch! I seriously regretted that one!! No one told me otherwise, but come on, how dumb was I?

Take care,

My side effects.... weight gain, weakness, fatigue, bloating in the beginning, nausea for a couple days at first, headaches in the mornings at first.... that's about it.

It takes a couple weeks to get used to them, but then most of the symptoms go away. Now, on them, I just have the gaining weight, weakness and fatigue.

I also have some kind of eye problem, but it's not sure if it was related to it or not, so I'm not mentioning it.

Long term.... After menopause or whatever, I plan on taking some kind of progesterone at least half of every month (probably prometrium) to care for my uterus.

Hope it works for you! Odds are in your favor!

Hi (((Pam))) It is so good to hear that your doctor was very positive. I had your dx but was postmenapausal; while discussing options, two top notch gyn/oncs both told me that megace frequently worked very well in younger woman even eliminating the problem entirely. I am hoping that you will soon learn that you are "kicking that hyperplasia's butt."
Hugs and blessings, peggiesue
