Low Estrogen Levels

Doc's office called me today to tell me my Estrogen levels are low and could be the reason for my weight gain and headaches. I'm going to pick up .75 Climara Patches tomorrow from her office to try them. I sure hope this weight comes off as fast as it came on. In 6 weeks I've gained 6 lbs. I've been really watching my calorie intake and nothing is working. Also been exercising as much as I can. (had a knee injury not long ago that put a damper on exercise).
Anyway, I hope this helps.

Low Estrogen Levels

Hi Sheila You might want to check out this thread:

Headaches are often a sign of either big estrogen level changes or too little estrogen. Since the patches deliver a fairly constant dose, except for in some cases where they don't last the full time they're supposed to for some women, usually fluctuations aren't the problem on patches. It's more likely to be too low an estrogen level overall, and it's possible that raising the patch strength might help.

Low Estrogen Levels

In response to the question of low estrogen and weight gain.....

From my understanding estrogen plays a big role in metabolism. I'm not real sure how or where but that it does. I've also read in many places that progesterone can act as a depressant and slow metabolism down. Balance is the key. Dr. Elizabeth Vliet explains more on this subject in her book "screaming to be heard".
