Talking - We have a few pets. We have a few pets.

Wow!! That's alot of pets!

I have scaled down, but currently have 2 chinchillas, 2 rabbits and 2 guinea pigs. I totally agree with you with the amount the guinea pigs eat but have to say, they make great little lawn mowers!! (and they get it quite even!! )

We have a few pets.

Hi Dabearzz,

Chinchillas are very cute little balls of fluff! (I love 'em - does it show?????) They are also known as rock-hoppers.

They are from the rodent family and look abit like a cross between a rabbit, mouse and a squirrel. They hail from South America and were once favourites to make fur coats as they have such soft dense fur. (bleuck!) They have large mouse-like ears and a tail similar to a squirrels and are a little smaller than dwarf rabbits.

They gnaw anything wooden and can chew through some metals so need an all round galvanised steel cage but I've never been bitten by them. (they are strict vegetarians )

Mine are rescued rescues if that makes sense. The girl I took them from had to give them up as her DH was allergic to them. When she saved them, they'd been so badly treated that she couldn't handle them (chinchills don't like hugs but are friendly and will happily run all over you or sit on a shoulder maybe.) and one had been attacked by a dog so only has 1 ear (some pet owners!) and has scarring from un-treated sores. They can live for 20+ years too which is quite unusual for rodents I think.

But yep, I am a self-confessing chinnie lover!!

We have a few pets.

I love the fur!(not off the animal, mind you) But they are so amazingly soft. I think they are such interesting creatures.
My SIL has a zoo too. 2 dogs, 2 cats, 2 birds, 12 or so rats, 3 chinchilla hamsters (think tiny chinchillas), a python(her DS's), 5 pigs and a horse. I think I covered them all! lol
