ovarian cysts

Hello Ladies, Since reading the posts in this section you all seem to know alot on the subject so I thought I would ask about my situation.

I had a vaginal hyster 11 years ago. Cancer in the cervix and uterus (I was 28 then) They left both ovaries.

5 weeks ago, I went in for an mri (back pain issue) they saw some growths, then i went for transvaginal ultra sound and they saw 2 small complex cysts . One on each ovary. Sent for a bone scan (haven't heard the results yet) And had another transvaginal ultra sound last week, when BOOM.. the one on my right ovary had grown 4 cm since the last one, and i was informed it was hemmoraging. Which explained the awful pain i was in, perhaps the weight gain as well. (now up 14 lbs)

My Doctor couldn't send me to the surgeon he wanted to due to an INSURANCE problem!! So i'm in the middle of switching it and sitting here waiting. I was in such shock i couldn't think to ask anymore questions and he's been gone since. I got back this week.

I'm still swelling like crazy and the pain is everywhere! he put me on antibiotics, pain killers and muscle relaxors and said see ya in 2 weeks fix the insurance.

Research on the internet doesn't say much about hemorraging cysts.. expept if you hit a high fever, which i don't have. Just lot's of hot flashes , pain and swelling. Anyone else have this situation to deal with? Thank you for shareing

ovarian cysts

Dear Nikki,
It amazes me that a bureaucratic insurance company is allowed to dictate what is 'covered' for medical problems, and that the bureaucrats can dictate who can perform your surgery! I'm enraged every time I hear that someone's treatment is held up by Insurance Problems .

I'm sorry -- I don't know a Thing about hemorrhaging cysts. I just wish they hadn't put you into the limbo of waiting while in pain. At least you have medication for the symptoms, but it's ridiculous that you're having to wait for treatment. Added to that, not having the doctor available to answer questions must be driving you crazy!

Please keep us updated & let us know how you're doing. And surely someone will come along who can help with info about your condition!

Best Wishes,
"empresse"

ovarian cysts

Hi Nikki,

I too am sorry to hear that you are having problems. Unfortuately, like Empress, I do not know anything about hemmoraging cysts, but I did have ovarian cancer.

The belly swelling concerns me and I do know, from others, that ovarian cysts can be very very painful.

Please go see an oncologist/gynocologist as soon as possible. They are the experts in the gynocological field and will set you onto the right path.

Keep us up to date.

thank you empress and rosalie

I'm still hopeing someone with my situation will post. I can't sleep from researching and i just can't find this situation there.

I so appreciate your supportive words and willingness to post .
It's hard to be alone with your issue isn't it? hehe

My insuance problem is keeping me busy, anger is a great tool if used properly. So I'm writing letters to state and county offices about the systems glitch. I was informed there was no process to expedite my switch inspite of my situation. Well..guess what? there is one.. it's called your state reps office! yes for those of you who don't know, they will handle these problems ! (whew least there's something right?) So i went from a 15 to 45 day wait to 7. My switch should be completed by this tuesday which is the same day i go back to see my regular doctor.. BOY Do i have a list for him! Someone reminded me at the state reps office. HE (the doc) works for you. Make him sit still for 5 mintues and answer your questions. And i plan on doing just that!

So hopefully if I make enough noise in all the right offices, they will pay attention to the next person coming down the path with this problem and fix that glitch.

Thanks again ladies! HUGS
Nikki

Nikki,

A gyn/onc is a great suggestion--definitely they're the experts.

I pray that you'll get this resolved very soon--so that your pain is relieved, any problems are taken care of, and your mind is at peace.

Blessings.

ob/ gyn

Thanks ladies for your support.

I have wanted to go to an ob/gyn since this started 6 weeks ago. My pcp wanted to wait until all the tests were in so things would move quickly if need be. (made sense.. the tests gotta get run either way)

The issue became a problem when something did show up and is complicated. See.. I moved to a different county a year ago. Kept my Insurance from the other area, and changed pcp's. (I am self employed, self pay)

It NEVER occured to me, that 2 counties could be SO different. Seems the doctors up here do not like the insurance I have thus NOT A SINGLE ONE of them within 60+ miles any direction will take it. (is this not amazing?)

I didn't even beleive it at first.. so i made phone calls.. and true enough, none of them did. Lucky for me in california we can be on our SO's insurance. Which is now where I am headed. From health net, to blue cross/shield of cali. I guess my old insurance will becoming more mainstream here in the future. IT's all just crazy! With my cancer history.. I knew to not mess around with a pcp when things showed up. Not that i'm looking for the big "C" again in my life.. just lost 90% of my family to it, and i have had it 3 times. So let's say.. I'm like.. go to the source and get it OUT.

I wanted to explain this a bit more since everyone keeps saying about the ob/gyn .. that I have to be reffered into it. Which is now my wait. *groan* I just wish I undersood about hemoraging cysts. Knowledge is always power... and right now i need some *lol*

BIG HUGS and crossing my fingers for my bone scan results on tuesday.. also they are going to run the ca125 test that day. So onward I go trying to cling to faith in "accepting the things I can not change, and change the things that I can"

Nikki
