Cranberry Juice and Yogourt = Happy Tummy!

Just thought I would pass along my 2 cents worth of post op advice. My two post op lifesavers were Cranberry juice and Yogourt!

First of all the cranberry juice can help to prevent UTI's - this was validated by my Dr. Since lots of fluids are good for you, he recommended this right after surgery when my bladder was feeling sensitive - so this has been my beverage of choice since then.

I have also been eating yogourt every day - make sure it is the kind with active cultures. I really believe this has helped my bowels to keep working - all that good bacteria keeps things in balance.

The added bonus was that for the first week, my sense of smell and taste were SO hypersensitive that anything sweet or salty was overwhelming!!! Both the cranberry and the yogourt seemed to be the right balance of sweet and tart that I could tolerate eating them.

Of course, it all depends on what you can or can't eat, but this may work for someone else, so thought I would pass it on.

Thanks for the advice. I am having surgery May 24 and reading these posts for any help I can use. This sounds like a very good idea.
