The easiest way I have found to remove the adhesive from my Climara patch is with rubbing alcohol using a cotton ball. I tried it after someone else on these boards mentioned it and it seems to the trick!

I use Johnsons baby oil. I rub it on 10 minutes before I shower. After showering it usually comes right off.

I'm on Climara patch - and going off it and on to pills May 10 - how that works out I'm waiting to see - does anyone know why start out on a patch if pills are available - I hate that black ring around my patch - the convenience of not taking a pill every day is not worth it to me. But, your question, I've tried the alcohol but dry skin anyway did not like that and the rubbing still to get the glue off still left red spot - if you take the patch off, take shower, wait until your skin is dry - 30 min to hour - then gently rub the glue stuff up in a ball - it won't work while its wet -- ideally I think if I take the patch off before I get wet (shower/tub) I could probably rub the lint ring off immediatley and redness would be gone by the time I'm out of shower and getting dressed but I always forget until I'm in the shower and thinking oh - yes, now I can take it off.

Polish remover - now that should work great! I'll give it a try Wed. when I change my patch.

An answer as to why a patch vs. pills I believe to be that the medicine from the patch gets absorbed through your skin, and a pill has to go through your liver. Some website I was on (sorry my foggy brain doesn't remember right now) where a woman doctor had a hysterectomy herself for medical reasons, stated that is why she is using the patch vs. the pills. So far the patch is working for me and although the fuzz that sticks around the edge is not too attractive, I am going to stay with it. At least it's in a place where not too many people are going to see it!

I use Vivelle Dot, too. When it's time to take off the patch, I peel it off, rub the area w/cotton ball w/alcohol on it and rub it. Then (using same cotton ball) I put some baby oil on it and rub again. I rub a little w/my finger if I need to...then it seems to come right off!

I'm glad there are patches...a small adhesive mark is "small price to pay" as they say... plus only replacing it twice a week makes it convenient...at least for me...

I know this sounds stupid but, I use olive oil, because years ago, some one told me to rub the stickers that are stuck on your apples that will not come off sometimes and it works, so rub with a Klenex with Olive Oil and its good for your skin too. I suppose as the others have suggested baby oil will do the same. By the end of the four days does your patch look pretty yucky. You'd think they would come up with something that didn't look so bad. I know no one sees it but...
