Starting Radiation

Hi Ladies,
Well I went to the gyn/onc. last Thursday(didn`t get to see him),spoke to his nurse/practioner,After I left she spoke to him & I am to start radiation therapy Wednesday.(I already went for the measuring thingy & to get marked(where they draw on you : ) )
So I guess this is the beginning of this part of the journey....Wish me luck! : )
Surprisingly I`m not very nervous!!!

Starting Radiation

Katie,
Good luck! There really isn't anything to fear. It's a relief to begin the process. With each treatment you are that much closer to being cancer free, for good!

Hugs,
Janie

Starting Radiation

Hey Hoosier sister,
Living in GA now, but used to live in Michianna, I guess that you live more near Illianna if I have it right (this is where everyone that is from one state gets confused). To clairify that, IN +MI is Michianna, IL+IN is Illianna, if you live within a 100 radius, it gets confusing, especially with the time zone thing we do.
I have only done the internal radiation for vaginal cancer, but want to tell you not to worry about the external. It's not that bad from what I have heard from the other ladies here. The internal is what scares most people and that is a piece of cake if you have to go there. It's not that bad.
Contact me if you want, like to hear from girls back home.

Good luck to you, Marie. I had 28 external and 3 internal radiation treatments. It wasn't a cakewalk but it wasn't the worst thing either.

I always looked at it as, "If this is what I have to do to stay cancer free, then, bring it on!"

Oh, yea, I remember getting those tattoos. Too funny!! I was grateful that I could keep my sense of humor through all that!

You'll be fine. Let us know how you're doing.
