rectocele repair, scar tissue at the cuff, slight bladder prolapse

Hello out there. I am new to this site and am excited to find so much helpful support. I am 33 and no stranger to surgery. I had two laparoscopic surgeries for endometriosis before I had my LAVH with BSO back in 8/01. Ever since about four months after the hyst, I have had pain at the top of the vagina with intercourse. I finally found out after switching doctors that it was a large clump of scar tissue. I also found out that I was allergic to the sutures that had been used. I had some swelling and blood blistering of my incisions on my abdomen and then little pieces of suture worked their way out of the incisions. This occured about 4-6 months after the surgery. I wonder if my body being allergic to the sutures caused so much scar tissue to develop at the top of the vaginal cuff. I think the sutures that were used on the outside incisions were used inside as well. All I know is that my sex life with my husband has been hampered by this. Now I have found out that I have a rectocele and slight bladder prolapse. I am scheduled for surgery in June but I am worried about how much relief I will get and have read stories about people who had the repair done but it did not take. How uncomfortable is the recovery process and how long should I expect to be out of commission? Thanks.

rectocele repair, scar tissue at the cuff, slight bladder prolapse

Hi, I am having surgery for cystocele and rectocele on May 3rd, and I too am having alot of pain at the top of the vagina, my gyn thought it might be a cyst, but nothing showed up on the ultrasound. I have my preop appt tomorrow morning and I am hoping the gyn will be able to figure out what is causing the pain so it can be fixed during this next surgery. This will be my 3rd surgery in 11 months. I was told to expect to be out of commission for about 2 weeks. Good Luck with your repairs.

Oceanmoan,

I hope your surgery goes well. I had one doctor tell me that he could see or feel nothing but when he did a pelvic I felt pain. My new doctor found the scar tissue immediately by doing a pelvic. I hope they can find the source of yours so that you can get relief.

I'll say a prayer for you.
