Perineoplasty Anyone??

Hi Sisters,

I had a perineoplasty and bladder sling surgery on April 16th. I'm wondering if anyone out there has gone through this type of surgery??? I need to know what to expect.

My history is I had a TVH and burch bladder procedure about a year ago due to uterine and bladder prolaspe. After that surgery I was not able to have relations with my husband without alot of pain and I was still incontinent. This time I found a pelvic floor specialist (I also moved from NY to Ohio during to past year).

The surgery went well, my questions are more to do with recoup time. I found with having the hysterectomy that is was great to talk to women who had gone through it. My Doctor's were great but there is nothing like talking to a fellow sister. I was expecting to bounce back more quickly.....it been about 10 days and I'm spending most of my day on the couch. Not taking any pain pills anymore, but I'm very sore and uncomfortable down there!! I know I have alot of stiches, it just feels very wierd.

I would appreciate any input. Thanks in advance.

Susan

Perineoplasty Anyone??

Hi Susan I'm sorry that recovery from this surgery is harder than what you'd expected

While I have no experience with a perineoplasty, I do remember that the stritches from the Rectocele repair were very uncomfortable for about two 1/2 weeks after my TVH with repairs. I'm thinking that the perioneoplasty probably involves similar stitches, maybe even more extensive. End I do remember that sitting and standing were especially painful. Do you have a peri bottle? If you fill it with warm water and spray the area, you'll notice immediate relief. Also, if you were provided with a sits bath, do go ahead and use it for some wonderful relief.

Here are some threads where perineoplasty is discussed: Perineoplasty Search

Hopefully someone will come along with some insight to share about how their own recovery went. Do take it easy and rest as much as possible: you're still a Princess and still need plenty of rest.

Perineoplasty Anyone??

Back in February I had my left ovary removed and at the same time they did something like perinioplasty, not quite as invasive as yours, they cut out the weak skin and brought the rest back together hoping to make things more comfortable for me, I would tear everytime I would have sex. It was pretty uncomfortable at first it felt more like a burning pain, I had a soft cold pack that I would sit on and it actually helped more than the heating pad. I would start to feel like I was getting swollen and that would help a lot. I was released by my Dr. after 5 weeks and the first few times it was very uncomfortable I was left sore after. It has gotten better with time, I think we pushed it and didn't heal enough first. My Dr. says that it is pretty successful for most patients, I trust him so I am going to give it more time. Just let yourself heal and trust your body if it says nope not yet, listen.
