'celes are repaired!

Hi all,
Got home from the castle yesterday after having both my cystocele and rectocele repaired veginally. I didn't have to have a catheter post-op! It took me awhile to pee at first. I didn't go until after my DH had left and I was so happy. I had no one to share my joy with at that moment as my nurse was not as impressed as I was so I thought of all of you here and pretended you were with me there. I am having some pain, all on the anterior part and none on the the posterior part, for some reason. The pain pills relieve it but I just want to be back to normal now! (I know, patience, rest, lots of fluid). Couldn't have got this far without all of the support from all of you.

'celes are repaired!

First congratulations are in order! I am glad your surgery went well and my best wishes to you for a good, healthy recovery. I am wondering if you might be able to share something with me....I have been diagnosed with a "small" rectocele that makes my life uncomfotable most days. I am wondering if anyone ever said anything to you on how big rectoceles have to be before an operation is considered. Or how you made your decision to have it repaired. Mine is supposedly about 3/4 of an inch. My doctors have all recommended living with it so far, but it is driving me up a tree. Thank you for any reply.

To Klbsister

I had a TVH in June 2003 & had tremendous vaginal pressure ever since. I went to several doctors & one examined me in a semi-upright position (I know, not pleasant) & told me I had a grade 2 cystocele and a grade 3 rectocele. Nothing was protuding on the outside but that's how he described it. I think my symptoms were more from my cystocle because of where the pain was but the doctor felt my rectocele was more of a problem. You didn't mention what problems you are having. How did they do the exam when they told you your rectocele was small? From what I have learned if you lie down, put your legs up & a speculum is inserted it can reduce the 'cele (push it back & out of the Vagina) thus making it appear smaller. Good Luck

So happy for You

Hi Hon,

I'm new here just registered but your posts I wanted to reply to. I am so happy your surg went so well. You are so very lucky and I hope you are all well soon. I think why mine was so bad was due to the blood loss, and the fibro and ra. I swear for two weeks I thought I was going to die and thought why did I do this, lol. Praise God that you are recovering so well and continue to. I am really happy that you did not suffer as I did.
