In Post-Op.....the Power of the Word "No""

No.

A simple little word.

I have had to use it a number of times in the last week since my surgery.

No....thank-you
No...I don't feel like it
No...I can't
No...I shouldn't
No...I couldn't
No...I wouldn't
No...not in this lifetime
No...what word did you not understand??

Ladies - we need to say"no" to MANY things right now and delegate our normal home and work duties. We have family, friends and coworkers right now for that.

NO to lifting
NO to rushing
NO to exerting ourselves too much
NO - our families can wait
NO - our jobs can wait

NO to anything that will impair our recoup time.

I even have had to say "NO" to my cat. HE is a "princess" and he likes to be carried up the stairs.

Where do you say "NO" right now???

I agree about "NO". I have to tell my cat all the time to stay off my tummy so she is at the top of my recliner chewing on my hair and I have to say No about that too. LOL The hardest "NO" has been for me to say to my 15 month old granddaughter. She just cannot understand why Nana can not pick her up when she raises her little arms. Until my surgery I kept her every day all week long from the time she was 5 weeks old. I am not keeping her right now and probably will not be keeping her daily from now on as my DD has quit her job to stay home with her DD. Still, when my GDD sees me she wants me to pick her up and I have to say "NO". I know it is necessary for my healing but it is hard. I so feel for the Sisters who have little ones that are there everyday wanting to be picked up and cannot be right now. Oh, I think I am going to cry.....

My DD's are 3 and 9. Not quite as young as your GDD. I still hold my younger DD in my lap and cuddle on the couch. Sometimes that is even better than being carried! My daughters love to lay on the couch with me and watch TV or take naps. Plus the pressure from their little bodies against swelly belly - or should I say Jelly Belly - feels really good.
