? about hrt, kinda scared, Please help

OK I know if you smoke you should not take BC pills, is this the same for HRT as well. I know I need to stop smoking, but it is so hard and I am afraid that if I don't, that I may hurt myself more by taking HRT.

My Dr wants to start me on them asap after surgery. She said sine I was 29 (at a young age) that I need them to prevent all kinds of things. I am just really scared to take them and at the same time really scared not to take them..

CAn anyone give me advice or where I can find good information pertaining to HRT. I have not done much research as I should be doing and my brain is so scattered I am not sure where to look either.

There are many great articles in the Hormone Jungle on this site. Just go to the pull-down menu and hit "Hormone Jungle Articles List." A book about HRT that has been invaluable to me is "The Estrogen Answer Book" by Ruth Jacobowitz. It's for sale at the Hyster Sisters Store, and should also be available in any major bookstore, if you don't want to wait for a mail order. Good luck in your research!
