OH my OHvaries!!

I had a TVH almost 1 yr ago. They left both ovaries cause there wasn't anything wrong with them. The Hyst was for "probable adenomyosis". Now I have been having pelvic pain mostly where my ovaries are for about 6 mos. I have also been getting varying cysts on my ovaries, some small, some larger, some simple, some complex. I now have "multiple cysts on both ovaries, none measuring larger that 1.2 cm". My drs. say that these cysts are not be the cause of my pain! OK! Also, I should say that I cannot take any oral contraceptive pills because they give me really bad migraines.

Finally, I now have a dr. who wants to do a diagnostic laparoscopy with a possible oophorectomy. He seems to think that I have adhesions and that is the source of my pain. The only way he would take out my ovaries (I'm 35) is if they are scarred beyond repair.

The TVH is the ONLY surgery I've ever had. Has anyone else had this type of problem after just one surgery? Anyone else experience this type of pain after their hyst?

OH my OHvaries!!

I had my hysterectomy 2 years ago - I kept both ovaries because at the time they were healthy. The past 6 months I have been having increasing pain from my right ovary. The ovary has developed many tiny cysts - it also appears that the ovary has adhered itself to the top of the vaginal cuff. Adhesions are also suspected. I go in for a third vaginal ultrasound next week. Most likely I will have to have lap surgery to see what is going on - the doctor will check out the condition of the ovary and if it can be saved he will detatch it from the vaginal cuff - if the ovary is not healthy it will have to be removed. I am 43 years old and have not had any menopause symptoms so I am hoping to keep my ovaries as long as I can.

Anytime you have abdominal surgery there is a risk of adhesions - even with only one surgery.

I hope that your doctor can figure out what is causing your problem and you get relief.

Take care.

Ovary Pain

Hi,

It's almost 7 months since my TVH and I kept both ovaries as they were classified as healthy. But I also now suffer from increasing pain where both ovaries are, particularly on the right hand side. I have not been back to my Dr, as I really don't want any more surgery unless the pain becomes intolerable. I'm hoping to be able to live with the pain. I also suspect that I have adhesions, I have unfortunately been suffering from night sweats but I still am not in a hurry to go head first into a full on menopause.

I hope all goes well with your investigations.

Love
