RE: Became a princess on April 29th
Hello,
I just had my TAH by laparascopy on the 29th of April. (On thursday it will be a week). I am feeling okay, except very tired. I just wanted to know what else besides walking can I do? The anesthesia left my throat very sore and my chest still hurts from the air that was put in my stomach. I can also feel the stitches inside where my ovaries were. (I had both ovaries and cervix removed). I just feel like I should be dong something more than walking, but then I just feel exhausted.
Thanks for listening.
-Rosa
I do however feel relief from the pain and pressure I felt in my pelvis.

RE: Became a princess on April 29th
Hi,
I think that a few gentle walks would be all that you should be doing.
We are all very good at feeling guilty at doing more. If our child or DH or mum or sister had had surgery, we would be there like a shot, sending them to bed, fetching, carrying etc, so why cant we sit down and let someone nurse us a little bit? Why cant we relinquish our roles as primary caregivers?
Please take it easy, there is a lot more recovery for you to do yet,
you may feel fine now, but the tiredness and exhaustion can catch you unawares sometimes

RE: Became a princess on April 29th
Hi rose22,
I am also a fellow April 29th and had the same procedure (I was able to keep my ovaries). It's nice to know I'm not the only one tired all the time. I have waves of energy. As fast as I get this wave, it disappears too. Just taking a shower exhausts me.
It's been raining a lot here where I live, so I can't walk outside. I have been walking in the house, trying to get the same distance inside as I would've outside.
I have an odd combination that is hard to explain to people. Though I am still dealing with the post op symptoms....I feel so much better then I did before I had the surgery. I was tired all the time. Not like I am now but when I have these energy spats I feel so much better then I did before. I am really looking forward to after recovery .
I used to feel like I was in this fog all the time. I have found that I can even concentrate more now....I feel more human. Have you seen the same kind of things?

RE: became a princess on April 29th
Hello,
Thank you for responding to my posting. I too felt relief after the surgery. After so many years of pain and being tired all the time, I felt like a human being again.
I also feel the bursts of energy and then have to crawl back into bed. It is true that we don't really give ourselves time to recover, but I am going to try very hard to take care of myself.
I am glad for this website and the many women who write about their situations.
