ovarion cysts

thank you all so much,

I will go back to my GP and ask for the ca125, I am so glad I found all of you.

If an oncologist is not involved in the surgery would they still find it if it is there?

Being used to the NHS I'm just used to doing as I am told, the idea of asking for anything is completely foreign to me.

Thank you all for your kindness

Dear Pauline,

Good question. I would ask your gyn if he recommends a particular gyn/onc to have standing by (might be easier to get 'through the system' if he has someone on whom he regularly depends during his surgeries). Of course, I'm hoping it's benign! But do talk with him about this -- it looks like (Latina) would be a good person to ask about procedures in the NHS.

To answer another sort-of question you had, about how to give a

When you are typing a reply, look to the left side of your screen. You will see a little box labeled "Smilies." At the bottom of the box, there is a link to "Get More." That link will bring up a new window, with lots of choices. Just double-click on the one you want to insert, and voila -- it will show up in your reply! It will look sort of like this :..hug..: (I had to add those little dots in between the colons and the word so that it wouldn't just insert another icon!) until you preview or post your reply -- then the actual icon will show up.

Best wishes!

ovarion cysts

Hi Pauline
I had my hist. last year because of ovarian cysts. (and fibroids and as was discovered then endometriosis, adenomiosis...)

Because of my age (54) and my C125 (33 at the time) there was concern that it might be cancerous so I was referred to an oncologist for the hyst; the reason being that if it was proved to be cancer, the oncologist would be the best person to take the necessary steps to avoid dissipation in the abdominal cavity of the cancerous cells during surgery.

The C125 test was done before I was referred to the oncologist and I was told at the time that this test is not a diagnosis tool because the levels can be elevated for many other reasons that cancer (ie fibroids, endometriosis, in fact many conditions where there is some inflammation) and that some people with high C125 will not suffer from cancer and others with low C125 will suffer from it.

In my case the results were benine. I will pray for yours to be too.
Love
Nicole
