Clothes do not fit

I am 3 wks post op from TVH on April 13. For the most part doing ok, but my stomach is still so swollen, clothes do not fit. I had adenomyosis and an prolapsed utereus. I have suffered for 16years with pain after my 2nd daughter, and no pain, but I need words of encouragement to say this will pass and the road to recovery is going good.

Clothes do not fit

Hi I am 3 1/2 weeks post op and still wearing my big sweat pants and hoping the weather doesnt get to hot as I have nothing to wear. If I have been up for any length of time the swelly belly kicks in. I dont think I do to much but today has been hard, just plain uncomfortable and very very tired. This to shall pass I am sure. It just takes time. I think we are very normal from what I have read. Rest and know that the worst is over, we will continue to heal every day. Good Luck Cheryl

I'm almost three weeks and have the same issue. I had to borrow some sweats from my sister-in-law who is a couple sizes larger. Do you swell even more as the day goes on?

Hi Twin1

I had a TVH and the reason for it was the same as yours (adenomyosis and prolapsed uterus). I had my surgery on 4/13/04 as well. I still have a very swelly belly and I am very sore, fragile and slow to get around. I rest a lot and sitting is still really uncomfortable. I do not drive yet (no way!). I still stay at home and do not go out to the grocery store or anywhere yet. Some of the other posts I have read state that some people are great and driving and all ready to go after 2 weeks! Well, not me that is for sure! I saw my doctor yesterday and she said everything was healing fine and that the way I feel is normal. I am having some pain around where my right ovarie is. It feels like it is swollen and about to explode, so my doc has ordered an ultra sound to check it out. But even with that, my doctor said all was ok. Hopes this helps! Let me know!

Thanks,
Sherry

Clothes do not fit

Before my TVH on 4-28-04 I bought a few cheap, dark colored knit pants in a size larger than normal at WalMart. I'm wearing them now, and plan to wear them to work when I go back. My DH is supplying the shorts on warm days.

O.K. I am 5 days from my 6 week post op.. I have given in,,,,I went to the thrift store and bought a bunch of like sundresses!

I am thinking I am not even gunna stress over the belly issue! I went for comfort and covering. I went and bought some stretch pant capri's but the shirts still just clung to my belly!

I give!!

I figure I can wear 1 dollar dresses for a while. At least I won't feel like everyone can see my big belly as easy!

Good luck ,,,, Jaye

Maybe this will give you hope

I measured the largest part of my abdomen when I came home from the hospital.
One night my stomach suddenly went down four inches. It was so obvious when I woke up that I meaured it and sure enough it has shrunk.
I am only a bit over a week post op so I'm no where near fitting in my pants but that four inch drop in one night was great.
Even if I am on my legs longer than usual my tummy gets bigger but never anything near those four inches that I lost.
I do think it will be a long time before I can wear my jeans, or my dress pants for work. Have no clue how I will afford new dress pants. I have to go back to work after four weeks and know my belly will still be too large for my other pants.
Good luck!

The best thing is to wear a belly binder. I swear that helped with keeping the swelling down. Mine was pretty much gone by 3 weeks and it really helped when in a car or walking.

I have been wearing my good old hold the fat in undies. The ones taht are stretchy all over, not the ones with the pannel in the front. they have helped with the burning and the bouncy feelings!

Off to check out what new dress I will wear in the morning.. see ya Jaye
