How long before I can have a bath?

Hello

Just a quickie.

I am a lover of a bath, not a huge soak but it does help my mid back pain as I cant usually bend down enough in the shower to do me feet etc.

I am scheduled for an abdominal op (sorry forgot the abbreviation) so how long before I can have a nice bath again?

Why is it the closer to the op date the more trivial questions pop in my head?!

taking abath

from what I have read, baths are breeding grounds for bacteria, and they might want you to wait for the 6 week checkup, but I don't know for sure. I am planning on having a plastic chair in the tub to sit on, and I have a shower head that pulls off and can be used to reach everywhere.

Nothing at this point is trivial, I don't think.

Best of everything to you, all of your questions will be answered soon.

At my preop the plastic surgeon and the ob/gyn were just not that concerned that this was going to be impossible or too hard for me, they were very confident that I would do fine. The PS did talk about 6 months before everything would feel great and look great.

How long before I can have a bath?

Thanks for your quick reply to that little question. On that note as its getting late 10.35pm here I will take the opportunity to get the bubbles out and have a nice bath and pamper meself for a bit. DH is out and daughter is asleep so will make the most of it!

Still feel a bit like I am in a dream world and things are starting to blur! Is that just nerves, shock or me just being the normal basket case I am!

Cheers
Looby

Hi Looby, I love my baths too as they also help with my back prob. My docs let me resume baths 4 weeks after my TAH/BSO. Please check with your doctor as they all follow things a little differently. s and blessings, peggiesue

How long before I can have a bath?

I have an abdominal incision, and when the doc took the last of my steri-strips off at my 2 week check, he said I could tub or shower, whichever made me more happy. He did advise to stay out of public pools and hot tubs, because they can carry other people's germs.

Here at 5 weeks, I've been showering all this time, just because I didn't think I could get myself out of the tub without help. But I'm feeling so much better now, I might just take a warm soak tonight - it's sounding rather inviting.

How long before I can have a bath?

Different DR's have different post op instructions, and it's important that you follow the instructions that your DR gives you. My post op instructions said no baths for six weeks, so you can see the range!

How long before I can have a bath?

Hi, I was told no baths until cleared by the doctor due to the internal incision. (TVH) I got a nice hot bath every single night until the surgery and now I am just waiting for the "all clear signal."

How long before I can have a bath?

I had a TAH BSO and was also told no baths for six weeks. I have desolvable stitches. My steri strips were removed at day 5 and the doctor gave me permission to finally shower! That felt good. He also gave me a solution to dab on the incission after my showers to help take the dampness off it. I am a tub person so only 4 weeks and 6 days to go!..for now I use a scrungie on a handle to get to my feet.

How long before I can have a bath?

Hi, the range really does vary a lot depending on your dr. I had a tah/bso and was sent to the shower the morning after my hyst. I was discharged from the hospital at 4 days and was told by my dr that I could have either showers or tub baths. He told me just to be very careful to gently dry my incision very well. And no bubbles or perfumes in the water.

Again, follow your drs orders but you can see how much they can vary

Best wishes.
