Doctors Appointments?
I had my surgery TAH/LSO (RSO 3.5 years ago) on May 10th. It is almost 3 weeks and I have not seen my doctor since I left the hospital, I have my 1st appointment on June 1st and I am really curious about visits to the doctors.
To be honest, prior to surgery I was a complete basket case and didn't think to ask the doctor about post op appointments. How often do you go, at what weeks, is it truly 6 to 8 weeks disability?
Any info would be appreciated.
Hope everyone is healing fast and feeling better every day....thanks to all my sisters for being there!!!!

Doctors Appointments?
Hi. It seems frequency of MD appts varies. I had my surgery on 4/19 and saw my MD today for the first time since being discharged from the castle. Other sisters report seeing their MD's at 1, 2, 3 weeks etc...
I had no stitches to remove and just uterus and cervix removed so nothing too complicated.
6 weeks is usually the minimum for recovery from a TAH. I am at 5 1/2 weeks now and will be returning to work on 6/1. The way I feel this week, I probably could have returned to work this week but next week is soon enough for me. Plus the job is extremely stressful so the more strength I have the better.
Be sure to rest with your feet up when you feel tired and drink plenty of water. Rest is really important to heal well.
Happy healing.

Doctors Appointments?
On the sheet of instructions given to me by my doctor the day after surgery allows showers, tub baths and swimming.....from everything that I have read each doctor is different and you will need to follow your doctors advise.
In the beginning you may not be able to climb in and out of the tub....it's not easy moving around at first.
Good luck

Doctors Appointments?
Hi Pam,
I saw my doc 6 days po for him to take staples out & check incision & then today. My incision didn't look like it was closing right so I wanted him to check it. I'm supposed to go back on 6/1 for routine follow up to the surgery.
Hope that helps!

Doctors Appointments?
I had my staples removed the day I was discharged and don't see my DR for 6 weeks.
I wondered the same thing about appts. Some ladies seem to go every 2 weeks. I wonder why DR doesn't think he should check things over sooner than 6.

doctors appointments?
I also haven't seen my doctor scince the day after my surgery. One of the other drs in the practice, released me. I don't go back until 4 weeks after my surgery. I think it depends on each doctor. I know what I can and can not do per my release papers from the doctor and the hosptial.

Doctors Appointments?
I saw my doctor 5 days after being released from the castle and he won't be seeing me agin until 6/30. But he said" any questions or if I feel something isn't right to call and or come in...if everything feels ok see you on the 30th." was good enough for me. Again the best thing to do is follow your doctors instructions. best of luck

Doctors Appointments?
Thanks everyone....it amazes me that we could all have the same operation and each doctor has different recovery standards....thought maybe there would be standard routine.....could you imagine people shopping for doctors based on when they see patients and when they are released....that's a distrubing thought.
I just thought that the AMA would have set standards for routine surgeries, but I'm wrong.
Thanks again!!!!
