Post - Books Books

Hi all,

Wondering a couple of things:

1. Has anyone here read the Harry Potter books? I heard when the first one came out way back when that these books are actually very entertaining to adults, but I never read any of them. I do like series, though, and thought this might be a neat series to get into.

2. Anybody read the Left Behind series? (Told ya I like series ) I just finished Glorious Appearing and although I haven't heard this anywhere, it's my opinion there will be another Left Behind book. Don't want to do a spoiler, but the way the book ends (and naturally, the way the Bible reads!), there almost has to be one.

Just wanted some opinions!

I've read all the Harry Potter books - they're fantastic - much better than the films. You just can't put them down. Everyone I know has read them. At first I was wondering why every adult I knew was reading children's books (none of my circle have children so it's not like they borrowed them from their kids).

Once you start you just can't finish.

I think you all have convinced me to read the Harry Potter books! I always heard that they're not just for kids and now I believe it. I think I'll try the first one!

Harry Potter is addictive! The movies are great fun, but the books are fabulous. Everyone at my office is hooked, and we've incorporated all kinds of words and references. When students are slow about turning in their forms, we talk about how great it would be to send them a howler. We love the sorting hat and wish we had one to do our jobs for us. I'm only sorry there isn't a new book out this summer. I read the fifth one last year when I was resting up after a laparoscopy.

I resisted for a long time, but about 4 years ago I finally decided to see what all the fuss was about and was instantly hooked. My DH is too, although he doesn't like to admit it. He acts as though he's humoring me; last Friday he said "I suppose you want to go see the Prisoner of Azkaban this weekend?" Well, duh!!!!

I love the Whomping Willow, and Peeves the poltergeist. And Mrs. Norris, who looks just like my cat, Pepper.

DH and I have read them all except the newest.
I find them greatly entertaining. They remind of the books I read growing up that took you into another world.

THe thing I really like is that they have encourged kids who've never read before to read.
My niece (12) loves them so much that my sister
uses them the loss of them instead of a time out.
