Gross but need help....

I am 3 1/2 weeks post op and am having..... problems. Sorry if this is gross but I don't really know any delicate way of putting things.

I've had very runny stools ever since returning from the castle, so much so that I only take my colace every other day (I don't want constipation either, you know!). But for the last two days (and nights- what a joy) it's been worse. And my poor backside just burns every time I have to go. And to top it all off, the old hemorrhoids are back. I'm wiping with baby wipes and putting cream on after each time but this is really getting old. I'm burning and sore and just want to cry each time I go running to the bathroom. None of this has affected my appetite and I'm not gassy or having cramping or anything. But my poor tushie can't stand any more!

Gross but need help....

Hi Shawn, sorry to hear about your problems. I had that problem too. Ever since I was a teenager I fought it the other way. Could not go the bathroom without taking a ton of fiber. It seemed almost immediately after my surgery I was running to the Bathroom. I was so sore that I used tucks all the time. Sometimes I did not even know I had to go. I would sit down to pee and there it was running out of me like water with no gas or cramps or anything. It lasted for a while, about 2 months,I started to straighten out about three weeks ago. It has been three months since my surgery and now I am like clock work. Feels so good to not have to take anything, just another reason I am glad I had this done. Just make sure you are drinking plenty of liquid so you do not dehydrate. I called my doctor when it was happening to me and he said just make sure to drink, drink, drink. You may want to call your doc though just to make sure it is not a bowel infection or something just to be safe.

Gross but need help....

There is a WONDERFUL cream out that you can buy over the counter called Calmoseptine. It actually creates a barrier
so that the skin is protected. It works wonders

Hope that helps,

Gross but need help....

Thanks, L2R. It's nice to know I'm not alone in this. I think I'll hold off on calling the DR as my post-op check-up is next week anyway. I'll definitely call him if it gets any worse but otherwise I guess I'll just wait and see. In the meantime, any suggestions on making things better? Should I try Immodium or something? Anything I can do to make the hemorrhoids better?

Gross but need help....

Hi Shawn, I did not take anything like immodium, but I stopped taking the colace too. With all the problems I had for years before I was so afraid of getting backed up if I took immodium. I had read posts on here of some that were so constipated that I really did not want that either. The tucks seemed to help with the bottom end pain. I also did alot of sitz (spelling) baths too. I really watched what I ate for a bit. Trust me, you do not want to eat an jalepeno pepper right now. That truly brought me to tears when I did that. Dumb I know, but I really like them and I just had to have one. I hope it gets better for you because I do know how miserable it can be.
