Bladder infection vs. Bladder Spasms

Ok........need some imput here.

I have never experienced a bladder infection - or for that matter, since my surgery on 5/19 - bladder spasms.

Please correct me if I am wrong:

Bladder Spasms: As you empty your bladder, toward the end, you have pain in your bladder area, rectal area....pressure and pain, which goes away upon getting up from the potty.

Bladder Infection: Burning when you urinate, the feeling of having to contsantly go with little or no output.

Some clarification please. Also, how long does it take for bladder spasms to go away?

Final note: I DID have problems with my bladder in the castle. First attempt to pee on my own did not work. Wound up being so distended from not being able to go that the Foley had to go back in and cost me another day in the castle. On second attempt, I finally managed to go with 20 minutes to spare before they kept me another day. I have not had any problems going since then, but EVERY TIME I go, I have these spasms.

Please advise sisters!!!! Thank you!!!:confuse:

Bladder infection vs. Bladder Spasms

Hi,

I had bladder spasms as well and problems going pee in the hospital after my cath was removed to. I was sent home with medication for my spasms and it really helped but for the life of me I can't remember what it was. Did your doc send you home with anything for the spasms?? I know they hurt awful mine lasted for a several weeks but the meds helped but I did get a bacterial infection soon after I was home so that didn't help. I hope yours get better soon if you are not taking anything call your gyn I know they have medication for the spasms because I took it..Take care I hope your spasms clear up quick...

Bladder infection vs. Bladder Spasms

Hi Bella,

Bladder spasms are very annoying and painful at times. I had these too after I came home from the hospital. Mine took several weeks to finally calm down.

If you are having severe pain or just for some peace of mind, why don't you give your dr a call? Perhaps he can prescribe something for you to help settle your bladder.

Please keep us posted on how you are doing...sending a big

Blessings,
