Very Bad News--Not Panicking Yet
 s Ellen
You are sounding in complete control of the situation!!!
I agree, give that tamoxifen a try. If you fall in the 18 to 20% who respond well, you could have a very nice chemo break.
If not, there are lots of other drugs out there yet for you.
I have two friends in a similar situation right now.
Both ended back on taxol alone every threee weeks, with no carboplatin. Taxol alone has been fairly gentle as far as side effects and their ca 125's have plummeted.
Hang in there dear friend.
Time to make some plans for the OCNA conference in September.
I know you want to meet some acor ladies in person and vice versa.

(((Ellen))):
You're in my prayers!
(((surferbabe))) has been writing about her experiences with DIM, since she can't tolerate Tamoxifen. If this is ER positive, any chance of trying that?
You know my thoughts are always with you!

Ellen,
Sorry to hear about the recent increase in your CA-125, but all your other "positives" are certainly a very encouraging sign. I would suspect that they will want to test your tumor for estrogen receptors first before starting you on the Tamoxifen or other hormone treatment such as Arimidex, no?
Best of luck and may you continue a very long journey with good health.

Ellen -
I am so sorry to hear those numbers are moving up. I am praying that the chemo guru will find an easy coctail to stablize your numbers.
Good sign though, that you feel well. I hope the CT scan is clear or at least informs the process.

Dear Ellen.....Have the doctors ever suggested Hexalen? It is not just used for maintenance. The research studies looked great. It is no longer considered experimental. It is only used for OvCa now. There are so many new drugs coming out. They will find the right one for you I am certain. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers.

Hexalen is my first choice of chemo if we don't try Tamoxifen or it doesn't work. There is a secondary concern with it, but...isn't there with everything.
