How long is recovery time?

One more question. I am a mother of 4 boys under 3 and they all require being held. My abdominal hyst wa 5/26/04 and it is 6/6/04. Will be 2 weeks in 2 days. One doctor said I can go back to taking care of the kids this past week and then saw a different one and they say not until 6 weeks if not later. I had severe endometriosis and ovarian cysts. It is hard to not do anything and especially to not hold my boys. My youngest is 8 months and I am unsure of what to do. I have slipped a few times and held the boys when they hurt themselves and were crying. I get these bursts of energy and feel as if I can do anything. Then 2 days later I hurt like a booger. What is the right time and what is going on?

6 weeks at least

Gees with little kids - they need sooo much time and energy and u've got to save your energy to get healthy again.

Stupid doc saying it's ok to mind your kids - bet that doc has never had a hyst! You won't be able to pick up the children and the little darlings will accidentally hurt your tummy...... guaranteed! Plus they're too young to understand mummy is sick : (

You really need your rest - do u have someone to help mind your children?

How long is recovery time?

Hi,

Six to eight weeks is the usual recovery time for an abdominal hysterectomy. You have literally hundreds of internal sutures and your body needs time to heal.

Is there someone who can come in and give you a hand with the little ones? Neighbors, friends, relatives, older school kids, people from your church, etc. Picking up more than 10 lbs is a You definitely still need help with your kids.

I know it's hard not to do too much, but by allowing your body the time it needs to heal, you're helping your family in the long run. If you heal properly the first time, you won't have to worry about future complications that can occur from overdoing it too soon.

Just take it easy and rest all that you can.

s,

Lisa

How long is recovery time?

Yes, we do have a family member that has been helping with the boys but she needs to do VBS next week and we are in a sticky situation. I was just confused because the original doctor said that I could take care of the boys the week after surgery so I was planning on doing that. But I really have been hurting recently. We will see.

Thank you guys!
