More post-op appointments needed?

I had my 5 week post-op and that went fine. When I asked my doctor's nurse about travel, she scheduled me for an appointment to check me out, I guess to make sure I was up for the trip, but maybe it was necessary anyway? That would be this week, week 7.

Well, my husband totalled my car, we bought a van that turned out to need a lot of work, and the upshot is I have no way to get to the appointment. Moreover, my doctor's office is moving and nobody will be available to answer the question till later in the week, so I'll ask here--if all is going well do I need to see the doctor for another post-op appointment? Other than some swelly belly and an unrelated injury, I'm doing okay.

My trip is off because of the car thing so I no longer need it if that's the only reason for the appointment. Waaah--I haven't seen my dad in two years, and he's had melanoma three times in that time. But that's how it goes.

More post-op appointments needed?

Hi

I saw my Doctor today for my post op, it has been almost 3 weeks. He did an external exam only, checked the incision and said it looks great see you in a year. Call if I have any questions or concerns. It was more detailed than that but basically I am done. He is a great doctor too I trust him totally.

So, maybe you are done too??

Sorry about your car too. Hope the van gets fixed so you can go see your dad. Good luck

Sin-D,

I had surgery on the same day, 5/19. I saw my dr. on Friday and it was exactly the same...she checked the incision, remarked on what a great job she had done, did an internal exam (cause I thought I might have an infection but I didn't) and said "see you in a year".

Of course, it was understood that if I had problems I would call her.

Thanks. I WOULD have hated to be half way across the country and unable to go farther...but the van is eating the gas money (and the grocery money, and the copayment money, and.....) I won't get to see my Dad and Mom, and that's jut that.

A van is a hole in the air you throw money into.

Anyway you could rent a car and maybe meet them half way? Might be cheaper than driving your own car.

I hear you about the gas thing. It is out of control.

Wishing you luck and hoping you can get to see your folks.

Cindy
