Had a surprise!

Hi Everyone,

Not been feeling too good after my 4th Chemo session (even though it was delayed for a week and a half due to low white blood cells and platelets, and water infection). Is this quite normal and is it going to be as bad for my last two sessions?

Anyway that wasn't the main reason that I decided to post today. I had a surprise this morning. It looks like I am having some new hair sprouting. Looks just like when new grass begins to sprout. The thing I want to know is - will it continue to grow back now, or will the next two sessions of Chemo make it come out before it has chance to grow any more?

Also, does the fact that it is growing mean that the Chemo is not working on the cells as it probably was initially?

I'd like to thank all the caring sisters out there for their encouraging help.

Many s to you all.

Had a surprise!

Hi Tubs

Sorry to hear you're not feeling well. I hope things improve for you soon.

You didn't say what your chemo is, but I had Taxol and Carbo [6 sessions] and my hair did continue to grow the entire time. Very thinly, but I always had some. It did get thinner and thinner, but it was there. I also wondered if that might mean the chemo wasn't working but my doc assured me that it meant nothing regarding the chemo effectiveness. I suppose that is true for you, too, but check with your doc to be sure.

Best wishes

Had a surprise!

Hello again! ( I don't know what happened with that last post!)

My last 3 chemo weren't as "easy" as the first 3. I'm using "easy" very loosely. Your body seems to take longer to get back to normal. I had my 6th in May. ( My last one as of now. )
This Weds. will be the day I don't have another chemo. I'm looking at that to be the first day of real healing. and some real hair growth.
I started noticing hair about the same time you are and I'm still basically bald. But some will still grow. I have a few that are 1/2 inch long. Not having hair really gets old.

Good luck with your last ones,
Laura

Had a surprise!

Hi Tubs.....My hair started growing back after my 4th taxotere and carboplatin chemo. I completed 9 treatments 4 weeks ago and my hair continues to grow. It is thin but getting longer. Now that I have completed my chemo I'll let you know what happens. I never had any major problems with chemo except for muscle and joint pains, slight nausea a few times and tiredness BUT my last chemo was different. I didn't bounce back like I always did before. It has been 4 weeks and I am just starting to feel like my old self and I mean old! LOL. Be well.
