Still leaking fluid :(

Hi everyone,

Well went I went back to the doctor a couple of weeks ago he said that I had a small spot on the vaginal cuff that was not healed. He did a silver nitrate treatment and everything seemed okay then. I had been leaking fluid (not urine) from my vagina a few days prior to the visit. Anyway over the weekend I went shopping. I was on my feet a lot. I went grocery shopping yesterday and came home and went into the bathroom. Right away I noticed that my underwear were completely soaked! It is not urine and has a slight odor but nothing horrible. I was a little confused at the last office visit because he gave me a prescription for pyridium and told me that if it happens again call him and get the pills for 3 days to make sure it is not urine. What I do not understand is that if I go ahead and take the pills and do not have any leakage what then? I know this sounds confusing and I am rambling on but I am leaving on vacation in 2 weeks and I cannot imagine what this could be. I am also going out of the country which does not thrill me knowing something "might" happen while I am there. Has this happened to anyone before?

Still leaking fluid :(

I've had drainage. I just wear a panty liner. I started out spotting a little blood. Then the liquid turned a little brownish/tan. There is no bad oder and I look at it as my body is just healing and my vagina is cleaning it's self.

Hi Dimples

Yes I have had drainage also since my TAH. The problem I have been having is gushing of fluid. I do not even know when it is happening.

I have the same thing but I would not call it gushing. A panty liner works for me. I never can feel it when it comes out [it is nothing like the clots I use to pass during my monthly--but that is all in the past.] Tell your Dr or the Dr's nurse what is happening. That might make you feel better. If there is oder or bright red blood that will not stop or a funky color then I would be worried. Your body could just be cleaning it's self, but I am no Dr. Call the Dr, that is what they are there for. Let me know what happens.

Still leaking fluid :(

I had that same discharge for five weeks and even now a tiny bit occationally (six weeks). It seems to occur when I have a bowel movement or when my bowel rests upon my bladder or vagina. It was scary but it went away. It is important to get off your feet. I too experienced this when I was on my feet for too long. Try to lay down, read a magazine or a good book, watch Oprah - you are still healing!

Yes I still do have a little discharge. I posted here before with the whole story about the "gushing". I was sitting in my chair about a month ago and got up and there was this huge wet spot on the chair. I slowly walked to the bathroom (I was a little concerned about what it was) and discovered that I was soaking wet! It was not urine. I went to my urologist the next day and he said that it was not coming from the bladder but the vagina and to go back to the gyne. I did and he did a silver nitrate treatment because he said there was a small spot on the vaginal cuff not healed. He gave me the pyridium (sp) and told me if it happens again to take the pills and call him. Well I like I said I went shopping all weekend and when I came home Sunday the same thing happened. I did not get the pills because my pharmacy is closed on Sunday. I have no clue what it could be. If it was just a little "leaking" I would not care but the amount is what worries me now. I am going to try and call this morning and see what he says. Thanks for writing )

Hi Dimples

I am sorry it has taken me a couple days to write back. I called my doctor and he is "on vacation" until the first week of July. Do I believe it.....NO! There is a new nurse there that is very rude and I do not care for her. She gave me an appointment for July 5! I thought about it and I am going to call today and talk with my regular nurse who is very kind and let her know that I will just be going to my regular family doctor and also let her know how I feel about the way the nurse talked to me yesterday. My doctor and his staff have been wonderful until she came along! I did what he told me to do and I called him when I "gushed" more fluid but she did not care and said I would be fine. Anyway I guess I will just wait and see. Thanks again for all of your support )

Unbelieveable, that nurse should get the boot!. July 5th is too long to wait. Good luck with your regular Dr! I hope he can help you. I saw my Dr today. He said that I could still have a little of discharge and that is it. Gushing is a complete different story, I hope it turns out to be something that can easily be fixed.
