Hi all

I have been on Detrol LA for a variety of symptoms for 8 days now. It really seems to help except for one problem. It really seems like it wears off about half way through the day! All the symptoms return around 3, 4 o'clock everyday. Is it possible I need a stronger dose? Does it come in different strengths?

Any help much appreciated!

Hi Detrol LA comes in two strengths, 2mg and 4mg, both designed as timed release capsules over 24 hours. Here's a link to Detrol's website:

Also there is regular Detrol, which is the twice daily version, available in 1mg and 2mg dosages ... so there are choices.

Hope this helps!

PLus there is also the Oxytrol patch, which keeps a sustained dosage of the medicine 24/7, plus you don't forget to take the pills.

I've used Ditropan (Oxybutinin) since '95, and about two years ago my uro switched me to Detrol...didn't work well at all, so I went back to Ditropan (now in XL so just once a day) and it works pretty well...just causes some dry mouth. Ask your doc about it if the Detrol doesn't help (give it a while to kick in though!). Good luck to you!

I was on Detrol also and later in the day it did not work as well. My Dr. just switched me to Ditropan, we'll see how it goes. I did notice that I was drowsy on the Detrol when it released during the day.
