visit to the colorectal surgeon.....

Hi Gidge,
This is the first time I've ever posted on a board so excuse me if I don't know all the abbreviations used! I was interested reading your post - I've been going through some similar problems. It's been 6 years since my surgery and literally since I wake from the anethesia I've had bladder and bowel problems. My GP and gyno kept treating me for bladder infection even when nothing showed on cultures. The problems have gotten so severe I actually thought I would die from the pain! My gastro dr teated me much the same as yours - he suggested I get some vaeline in addition to the Metamucil. Last week I went to a urologist for the 2nd time when I really thought I would die soon from the pain. This time I made him listen to me (he too wanted to treat me for bladder infection last time). He did a very through pelvic exam which hurt so bad I screamed out loud and cried. Ah Ha he says. I told him I had done some internet research and I was guessing my problem was a fistula. He said we were on the same page and is sending me for a cat scan on Thurs. It just amazes me how things like this can go on for so long and so many docs pass over what should be obvious. I've learned more from reading these boards than anything the docs have passed on to me in 6 years! I hope you find an answer to your problems and a quick resolution. Don't let them string you along any further. Push them for answers - Don't be like me and let it drag on forever! When I get the results of the cat scan I intend to find the best doctor on the planet to deal with it whatever it is! Good Luck!
