CT results and The Plan

The CT showed a 2.6 centimeter new growth on the peritoneum--and nothing else. The node that caused the original problem is fine.

So...here's the way the plan is. My Dr. hasn't ever used Tamoxifen on an ovarian patient before. Unless he can get together with the "guru" at the UW Clinical Cancer Center and that "guru" says no (and he is using it on his patients) I will start on Tamoxifen Saturday. If that doesn't work, or the "guru" says no, we will go on to Gemzar. I'd much rather try Doxil, but they have seen some of the nastiest hand-foot problems with that and would prefer Gemzar.

First CA125 is July 6--but that'll be pretty soon--I hope we can go through to August before making another decision to keep on with Tamoxifen or switch. I had very bad hot flashes with the carboplatin on my first recurrence, so I'm prepared.

Dr. agrees with me that I'm very lucky that I have such a sensitive CA125.

A sensitive ca125 number and a strong willingness to nip this monster in the bud. What a winning combination!!

It always amazes me at the many different kinds of chemos there are for cancer.

Like Maureen told you in an earlier post.."Now that you know what is not working anymore, lets find the correct one that will work".

Keep us constantly updated.

It sounds like a good plan. It is good that your CA 125 showed the new growth so quickly and that there is only one. May the tamoxifen get rid of it for good!

Ellen
I am glad you have a plan. I have also been thinking of Doxil but am weary of the hand & foot problems. With the Tamoxifen hopefully you will be side effect free and all those nasty cancer cells will be gone for good.

May that sensitive CA 125 fall to a single digit number.

Sounds like a good plan to me. And if you are one of those ladies where tamoxifen works, you will certainly be handling a relatively easy treatment. It certainly has done wonders for L.W. on the acor list. Right?
Now I am just being nosey. Have they ever mentioned taxol alone or taxotere alone? And if so, are you not interested?
My thoughts are always with you.
Are you giving any more thought to OCNA and Washington the end of September???? I would love to meet you in the living flesh!

Hi, Ellen. The tamoxifen sounds like a plan. So what will the treatment protocol be? How frequently will be you be given this drug? For how long?

My thoughts and prayers will be with you.

God bless,

Ellen,

There's a lot of new energy emanating from your post! That energy, and your sensitive CA-125, and a new plan with alternatives, and your sense of humor and determination.....I'm feeling lots of good vibes over here in Jersey!

And of course there's also the living God who's working in and through all this.

Blessings.

I wish you the best of luck with whatever you and your doctor chooses as far as drugs go. I will continue to pray that whatever drug is decided that it nips the new growth in the bud. It is good that you ca125 is sensitive and that you was able to catch this early.

Prayers and God Bless
