leg numbness and pain

Okay...I know what caused it so I don't need to know that, but is there ANYTHING at ALL that can be done for it and how does it last????
It has been the single most annoying thing since my surgery. My outter thighs have not stopped being tingly and numb since the day of surgery.
I go to bed and they start to get even more tingly and begin to itch so I scratch but can't feel myself scratching because they are so numb.
I wake up with a completely numb thigh about 1-2 hours into sleep and sometimes shooting pains will occur if I move, or charlie horse-like cramps will happen.
I tried the pillow thing. I sleep with a pillow under my legs. I tried sleeping without it. Didn't work.
Is there anything at all that you ladies have tried besides the pillows that has worked for you and for those of you who have had this and had it go away...when did it go away?
Any advise would be appreciated.

I have not had this symptom at all. Call your doc, and if you don't get an answer you trust, call another surgeon and see what they have to say about what is causing this symptom.

I hope it goes away soon, and your healing just gets better.

leg numbness and pain

I was told that it is either due to the weird positions I was put in during surgery or that the nerves may have been damaged and need to heal.
My family Dr. had told me that it may take up to 6 months to heal but he was not specific about this. I just need to know if anyone of you has any remedies that worked for you and when yours finally went away.

leg numbness and pain

I've gotten something like that. I've tried to do in bed exercises like moving my foot as far to the front and then pointint the toe. Also, just tensing the muscles and letting them go isometrics, I think. I want to start stretching soon, as I think that will fix the circulation. I walk around but I don't stretch, still to afraid to pull something. So I'm going to try just stretching my limbs without moving my pelvis. That might work. same with arms. I did yoga before this so my body is really needing to stop being bogged down.
Hope that helps.

Thank you Diana I will try some stretching and see if that helps.
I was also reading on the Road Less Traveled board today (First time there) about someone having aches and pains in their legs and taking primrose oil for it. I am going to try that too.
I will pretty much try anything at this point. It's been going on way too long without any relief. Seems to be getting worse in fact.
If anyone else has any remedies please share um with me.
Bye for now.
