MRI scan?

Melissa, The waiting is always the hardest part. Here is a link that describes tests used to diagnose cervical cancer and many treatment options your Dr may recommend. http://www.cancer.org/docroot/CRI/CRI_2_3x.asp?dt=8

MRI scan?

When I was diagnosed with cervical cancer I had a CT scan, lungs, abdomen, and pelvis, and complete blood work. Those were the only tests my gyn/onc ordered. He ordered those tests but I began treatment before we got the results back. Fortunately the tests didn't find any spread of the disease. I had already had two sonograms, external and vaginal. Your doctor may not order any more tests if you are having surgery as he can check for spread at that time.

Keep us posted on what they doctor tells you on Tuesday. Ask him what kind of cervical cancer you have and what the stage is. Make a written list of questions so that you don't forget anything.

Hugs,
Janie

MRI scan?

When I was first diagnosised with cervical cancer (after my surgery) The only tests that I had was the CT scan, but you have to understand different doctors will do different tests. Some may feel that an MRI is mor accurate than a CT and go with the MRI. And some may think that there is not much difference between the two and will go with the lesser of the two the CT. (price wise that is -- as I said some will)
