Vulvectomy DONE!!!!!!

As I attempt to sit, stand, walk, sleep, pee, I MUST continue to remind myself that had I not had this done to me on May 24th, I was guaranteed death, at some time. But I could have been killed merely crossing the street!!
And had I known, even though I had done all of the research and was completely informed about the surgery, that the mutilation would be so horrifying, that the pain would be so excruciating, that the burning would be so intense, that the pain medication would not come close to touching the pain, that the mere thought of attempting to take a breath would drive me to the brink of insanity, THERE IS NO WAY IN HELL I WOULD HAVE GONE THROUGH WITH THIS!!!!!!!!!
I can only hope and pray to God that no other woman ever has to go through this surgery.

Dear Jaz,

I am so sorry that you are having to endure this experience. I cannot fathom what you are going through right now. I pray that as the weeks go by the pain will subside.

Prayers and Hugs,

Vulvectomy DONE!!

Oh, Jaz,

I'm so sorry that you had to go through this, not only the awful surgery, but the terrible pain as well. Have you been able to talk to your drs. about this? Is there some other form of pain relief that you haven't tried yet? Pain is so awful. I'm praying for you.

4/5 left ovary removed; 6/7/04 LSH scheduled (unless I can't kick this cold) for fibroid colony and other assorted miseries

Vulvectomy DONE!!!!!!

Dear Lorianne,

I'm so sorry, and of course it's easy for me to sit here and say, hang in there, it'll get better.

But hopefully it will (remember you're only one week post op, and the "op" was a very radical procedure)...and I agree that you may want to ask your DR for different or better pain meds.

I'm keeping you in prayer, not only that this surgery will solve the problem, but that your pain will subside and that life will begin to brighten up.

All the best.

Vulvectomy DONE!!!!!!

Dear Lorianne, I'm so sorry to hear all that you're dealing with. Hopefully, with each day that passes, you'll feel better and better. Your surgery was so traumatic that I'm sure this will take time.

Keep your eyes on better days ahead. You've got so much to live for and I'm sure that one day you'll be able to look back upon this as worth all the pain you endured. Please speak to your pain management team about some better drugs.

God bless. Let us know how you're doing.

Please do check with your medical team about better pain control. You have been through so much and with pain control you will heal faster.

Take care. Rest. Rest. Rest. Soon you will feel stronger.

Vulvectomy DONE!!!!!!

oh Jaz,,,, my heart goes out to you.

Your pain sounds 100 times worse than the bone pain I during chemo. But just think,,, had we both not done what we had to do, we may not be here today to talk about it.

Please call you doctor in the morning. No one should be in that much pain.

Try and rest.

Vulvectomy DONE!!!!!!

Lorianne, my heart goes out to you. No one should have to endure this type of pain. The doctor must give you something for relief and keep working at it until something helps. Do you have help at home? Please do not overdo it. I am so sorry that you are going through this. I hope that you have some Lidocaine or something else topical to decrease the discomfort along with pain pills. This is not about pain and suffering. Please call the doctor for some HELP.

Vulvectomy DONE!!!!!!

Oh dear, Jazinol,
I'm sorry you are having such a rough time - I agree with the other sisters that you should give the doc a buzz tomorrow and ask for different pain meds - everyone reacts to pain meds differently and maybe you just haven't found the right one yet.

Also, you are only one week post-op, so hopefully things will begin to progress very soon for you. Don't over-do it and ask for any help you can get!

I'm sure it's difficult, but try not to think of yourself as mutilated. Afterall, the brain is the largest sex organ in the body! I'm sure your significant other would rather have you alive and well with some reshaping of the perineal/vaginal area then to die from this. So easy to me to say from here at my puter desk, isn't it?

Hang in there - this too shall pass....

I am so sorry that this is such a horrendous experience for you. I will be keeping you constantly in my 'ers that you receive relief soon and that your efforts are rewarded with a very long life filled with health, happiness, and peace.

The girls are right--you have a right to expect good pain management. Get on the phone and talk to your doctor (or whatever doctor is on-call) immediately. Perineal pain is terrible. It's so hard to deal with because it's such a sensitive, vulnerable, and intimate location. Emtotionally, this is probably hard enough to deal with on it's own--you don't need pain to make it worse. Please call.

Consider using ice packs for a long time. The cold (if you can tolerate it initially) usually serves to numb things and might give you some relief. Certainly, it will help keep swelling under control.

Keeping you in my thoughts.
