A CYST........WHY ME?????

Dear Sisters,

It's been quite some time since I have been here, but all of you have been in my thought's daily...........WOW! has life sure been busy for me, everything was going great recovery included untill last Friday when I doubled over in pain at the grocery store and had to call DH to help get me home. The pain was so bad that I called my gyn. Her office was closed untill today (Monday) she wanted me to go to the E.R right away, but I refused and told her I would see her in the office. I tried my best to wait it out but yesterday I was in tears so I broke down and went to the hospital. After 6 tubes of blood and urine taken from a cath doctors were stmped so off to ultrasound I went after a shot of Demoral to ease the pain..............Doc came back and told me there was a mass of some sort around my left ovarie, gave me some pain meds and told me to call my gyn today and get into see her.......It took ALL day for my gyn to get the ultrasound report and pictures from the hospital because they lost them. Finally at closing time the nurse calls and says I have to come in to see them tomarrow pm she says that I have a huge cyst covering my left ovarie and we need to discuss what we are going to do about it...........I don't know anything about ovarian cyst's or what to do about them, could someone please tell me what some of the treatment options are?...........Are there meds to shrink it, or does this mean another day under the knife? Thank You all in advance. I'm sorry it's been so long since I have been here

A CYST........WHY ME?????

{{Trish}},
I am so sorry you are having problems. Cysts can be very painful. I had to have my right ovary removed at 3 months postop. It was covered in blood filled cysts and had a mass on it. The mass turned out to be Adhesions. Now I have a 3cm cyst on my left ovary I know they can do the watch and wait, which I've been doing for several months waiting for it to disappear!!Hope you feel better soon:

A CYST........WHY ME?????

I had a TAH May 2000. I too have been extremely sore, cramping like PMS. Went to the doctor and found out I had cysts on my ovary. She said to come back in a month for another sono which I did and it still shows it there. She's been out of the office so I don't know what to expect. I had a hysterectomy due to hemmoraging after delivering my baby (placenta accreta) and have not been the same. 5 months later and I still can't stand to touch my stomach, it still hurts. What will they do for these cysts? Any answers will be appreciated.
