Pre-op pain management

Hey there sisters...
I need your input... I'm in pain - severe pain part of the time, mild to moderate the rest. I have to be at work to save my leave time for my hyst... Anything beyond Tylenol either knocks me out or makes me hallucinate -- I can't take Ibuprofen because I take Celebrex...

Sorry - today is particularly bad... Any ideas out there? Even funny, crazy suggestions???

Thanks for being there!

Pre-op pain management

I don't know if this will work for you or not but heat works really well for me. I take a rice sock and heat it in the micowave for about 2 minutes and place it where it hurts and it works pretty well and rest I know that is not possible when you work.

Pre-op pain management

Hi Lisa
This is going to sound particularly silly, but trust me.

One of the Hostesses here befriended me pre-op when I was in agonizing pain every single day. She gave me this tip, and I thought she was being ridiculous. Keep your FEET warm! I actually ended up putting a heating pad on my feet for awhile, and it didnt' take the pain away but it helped.

When your feet are cold, you tend to tense up your leg, hip, and lower back muscles which just aggravate "female" pain. So try it! It just may help.

For future....go get some Playtex Heat Therapy pads. You stick them on your undies, and they stay warm for 12 hours. I don't know what I'd have done without them pre-op.

I feel for ya hun

Pre-op pain management

Thanks so much! I use the Thera-Heat pads and they do help (just didn't bring any to work today... won't forget tomorrow!!!). But I've never heard about keeping my feet warm... It's warm outside today, so I'm wearing sandals... but with the air conditioning my toes are cold... Fortunately I work at an imaging center and can go get one of the warm blankets from the MRI unit!!! Hmmm... that actually sounds really good!!!

Awesome idea!!
