Home From Castle!!!!!!

hi everyone,
It is day one home from the castle. I didn't sleep well last night, which doesn't surprise me. I have been reading some of the post op messages and some of the pains that you are having could be bladder spasms. I was put on oxybutynin to help with the spasms. They almost feel like contractions.
I too have had some bleeding. My dr said this is normal for up to 6 weeks. The pain is worse than I thought. The day after surgery I was feeling really good. I was up walking around and doing really well. That night I paid for it. I was in so much pain. I think the best thing for us to do is to remember that just because we are feeling ok, not to over do it. It doesn't last for long...lol.
I was so desperate to have a bm, I tried suppository, enema, and of course ex lax. Nothing has worked yet. I don't know how much longer I can take this bloating and fullness. I just want to wish everyone good luck on their surgeries. Hang in there. The first few days are not as good as you may expect, but it does get better???? I just keep telling myself, a little pain for a few weeks and then no more pain EVER!!!! Thank you to all of you for your support preop and get well messages. You really are a great group of women, it helped my surgery go better by reading from this site. I learned more here than I did from dr or the nurses. It prepared me a lot better. Thank you again

Hi mnmisspriss2002,

Glad to hear this site has helped you!!! That's always nice to know. There IS a lot of great info and answers to your questions from the caring sisters here.

You said you were still in pain....are you taking any meds? Your dr should have written you a script for some before you left the hospital. Please do take them for a while....if you feel better, you will heal better.

My surgery was on a Mon and I didn't have a bm until Sat. Are you taking any stool softeners? Please be sure to drink lots of water , do some walking , and get lots of rest Rest was the hardest for me at first. But do be a good princess and follow all the rules. You and your body will be so grateful in the future.

Sending you a big and prayers for a smooth recovery

Welcome Home!

I'm only two weeks ahead of you...so I can tell you for sure that walking, sleeping and drinking as much water as you can will help so much! (Be sure to be careful with the walking...you want to be ambulatory - not working out!) Also be sure to take a lot of time for yourself, take your pain meds and, oh yeah, sleep! Don't worry about the dust bunnies becoming dust rhinos...they won't hurt you. Take care and keep us posted!

P.S. As for the BM's try prune juice (if it's warm it works better -- I know it's GROSS ). Also, General Mills has a cereal called Fiber One. I eat it twice a day. I also eat the prunes that have a cherry flavor to them. Try rocking in a rocking chair and walking. That helps so much to get the bowels moving. They may still be sleepy from all the anesthetic. Feel better!
