adenomyosis question
hi,
I've just remembered and had to recheck one of my old posts but anyway in my ultra sound report it said I could possibly have adenomyosis. my question is what is it and does it go away with surgery?
hugs!

yes it goes away
Adeno is when the endometrium (inner lining of the uterus that sheds each month to form your period) grows into the myometrium (the actual muscle wall of the uterus itself).
This can cause excessive bleeding, and once your uterus is gone, so is your adenomyosis. I didn't know I had it until my path report came back last week after my hyst.

Me too!
I also have adeno and researched the webmed page to better understand all the medical jargon. I found surgery is the only permanent solution. My doc took the ultrasound pics inside and out and came to the possible conclusion since my uterus is measuring almost 15cm when normal range size is typically 6 to 8cm so I've read. I also had biopsy come back positive for endometrial hyperplasia. But soon it will be gone for good.

adenomyosis question
Misty,
I am having my surgery due to adeno (that has gone on for years without proper diagnosis, but don't get me started on that). For quite some time, I have been missing periods on a regular basis. So, the lining has been going back into the muscle rather than being shed. As a result, my uterus is very sore, "boggy", and enlarged (the size of a 20 week pregnancy). So, yes, a hyst is a cure for this condition--no uterus, no adeno. Best wishes for your surgery and recovery!

adenomyosis question
My pathology report came back with a surprise.. I had adenomyosis. All these years my doctor thought I had a large fibroid and I tried most everything to live with the fibroid.
Long story short, I had a TAH/BSO. The adenomyosis is a thing of the past and I'm thrilled.
