Radiation-Oncologist Appointment

Hi everyone,

Just reporting on my visit with the radiation oncologist today. He wants to do 6+ weeks of radiation Mon-Fri. I will be able to have it done at a cancer center that is 2 minutes from my home. The only glitch in the plan is that bout with diverticulitis/diverticulosis that I had in March. That my preclude me from having radiation. However, I will have a repeat colonoscopy ASAP. If I receive the OK from the gastroenterologist, I will be able to proceed with the radiation promptly. He would like to start within the week. I had the simulation today, and they did my "tatoos".

Once the radiation is over, I will have a PET/CT scan and a CA-125. After a break of about 6 weeks, I will start chemotherapy, probably the combination of topetocan and gemzar.

On the bright side....I got a cute new hair cut today...because I deserved it!

In some ways I hope that you will be able to do the radiation, but in others I wish that you wouldn't have to go thru it. But, I guess that they feel that it will blast those nasty "C" cells. The simulation is what takes the longest, the rest of the treatments are over before you know it.

I will pray that your treatment go smoothly and you have none of the side effect. (although the last may be wishful thinking)

God Bless and take care

Linda,
I love your attitude! What a boost you are for everyone!

I'm glad that you are able to have radiation so close to home. Mine was 12 minutes from my house and I got it down to where I could leave home, get treatment and be back home in 40-50 minutes. Still, it gets old, and I was glad when it ended. But it's much better than some of the other treatments for this stupid disease. You'll do fine. The radiation oncologist can help with any of the symptoms.

Glad you got a new do. You DO deserve it!

Linda

Let's hope you can get the radiology and the chemo--that is bound to drive every last cell out of you forever. I know this will be hard--one day at a time and post whenever you want. I wish you didn't have to go through this. (((hugs)))

Hey, Linda. Here's hoping everything goes well for you. I hope that there's nothing that will prevent you from getting the radiation and I hope that the radiation and chemo double-punch really delivers the necessary whallop!! to get rid of any last cancer cells.

I've also had radiation and it was tough but, hey, I survived and so will you. Remember that whatever side effects you might have from the radiation to talk over with your doctors. There's lots of help available.

PM me anytime if you have any questions.

God bless,

Radiation-Oncologist Appointment

The radiation-oncology office called today. They have reviewed my colonoscopy results from 4-30-04 and have cleared me to start radiation. So, I am awaiting a call from the radiation center near my home where I will have the radiation.

Thank you, everyone, for the kind words and support. I'm gonna make it through this.

Bring it on..........
